Embarkation Day Hacks: Get Onboard Your Cruise Ship in Record Time

Updated: Dec 23, 2024

🛳️ It’s embarkation day—the official start of your vacation! But let’s be honest, no one wants to spend hours waiting to board. That’s why I’m here to give you the ultimate insider tips for getting onboard faster so you can dive straight into the fun. Let’s get started!

Complete Online Check-In Early

First things first, make sure you complete your online check-in as soon as it opens. This is where you upload your documents, choose an arrival time, and get your boarding pass. The earlier you do this, the better your chance of scoring a prime boarding time

Arrive Early—But Not Too Early

Stick to your assigned arrival time. While showing up super early sounds like a good idea, it might just mean waiting around longer. Most cruise lines are very efficient when you follow the schedule, so trust the system.

Pack Essentials in a Carry-On

Luggage drop-off can take a little time, so keep your essentials with you. Want to hit the pool immediately? Pack your swimsuit. Ready to sip a drink on deck? Have your sunscreen handy. You don’t want to wait for your suitcase to arrive in your stateroom.

Join Loyalty Programs or Consider Upgrades

Frequent cruiser? Check if your loyalty status includes priority boarding. First-timer? Many cruise lines offer priority boarding as part of suite upgrades or special packages. It’s a small cost for a big convenience.

Keep Documents Ready

Have your passport, boarding pass, and health forms ready to show. The faster you can hand over what’s needed, the faster you’re on your way!
